By Madison & Colin, co-owners of Dirt Cheap Compost
As Wheat Ridge residents, we love pitching in however we can to make our community a better place! One of our favorite ways to do this is by bringing a 5-gallon bucket and a couple trash pickers down to Clear Creek, and seeing what litter we can score!
Recently, Madison pulled a full kite out of the water by the parking lot at Prospect Park. (Our nephew will never be the wiser when he opens his Christmas gift this year.)
On top of that, we picked up socks, diapers, vapes, food wrappers, cans, bottles, and a huge mess of cigarette butts (seriously, what's up with people who flick their butts?).
We hope to organize community cleanups before long – we think it'll be a great way to meet our growing DCC community, and make even more of a positive difference here in our neighborhoods! And in the meantime, we hope you consider ordering a trash picker; if you're a compost customer of ours, you've already got the bucket! It really is cathartic to pick up litter in your community :) and it can inspire others to do the same, making the world a better place one piece of plastic at a time.
(And if you see us out by the river one day with our dog Harvey, say hi!)
